A comparison of the analgesic efficacy of vedaprofeno, carprofen or ketofen after ovariohysterectomy in bitches Ciência Rural
Selmi,André Luis; Lins,Bruno Testoni; Cesar,Fernanda Bicudo; Figueiredo,Juliana Peboni; Duque,Juan Carlos.
In this study the authors aimed to compare the efficiency of carprofen, ketoprofen and vedaprofen for alleviating postoperative pain in bitches submitted to ovariohysterectomy (OH). Pre- and postoperative assessment of pain was made using serum levels of cortisol and glucose, the visual analogue scale (VAS) and the University of Melbourne pain scale (UMPS) in twenty-one bitches undergoing OH. Dogs were randomly assigned to one of three groups: vedaprofen at 0.5mg kg-1, carprofen at 2.2mg kg-1 or ketoprofen at 2.2mg kg-1. All analgesics were given orally 2 hour before surgery. Assessments were made before surgery and at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12 and 24 hours post-extubation. No dog of this study required additional doses of analgesics. There were no...

Effects of Steroidal and Non Steroidal Drugs on the Neovascularization Response Induced by Tumoral TA3 Supernatant on CAM from Chick Embryo Biol. Res.
ZÚÑIGA,JORGE; FUENZALIDA,MARCELA; GUERRERO,ANÍBAL; ILLANES,JULIO; DABANCENS,ALFREDO; DÍAZ,EUGENIA; LEMUS,DAVID.
Angiogenesis, the development of new blood vessels from the existing vascular network, may result as a consequence of the increase or decrease of proangiogenic or antiangiogenic factors, respectively. The tumor itself could up-regulate the production of angiogenic factors. Recently, we established that the steroidal drug betamethasone in low concentration inhibit the neovascularization promoted by TA3 Ts on CAM of chick embryos. We describe here the effects of the non-steroidal drug ketoprofen, alone or in association with betamethasone, on the angiogenesis promoted by TA3 Ts on CAM. The main finding reported here is that the formation of new blood vessels is strongly inhibited by low concentrations of ketoprofen. The association of both drugs produced a...

Presurgical ketoprofen, but not morphine, dipyrone, diclofenac or tenoxicam, preempts post-incisional mechanical allodynia in rats BJMBR
Prado,W.A.; Pontes,R.M.C..
The treatment of pain before it initiates may prevent the persistent pain-induced changes in the central nervous system that amplify pain long after the initial stimulus. The effects of pre- or postoperative intraperitoneal administration of morphine (2 to 8 mg/kg), dipyrone (40 and 80 mg/kg), diclofenac (2 to 8 mg/kg), ketoprofen (10 and 20 mg/kg), and tenoxicam (10 and 20 mg/kg) were studied in a rat model of post-incisional pain. Groups of 5 to 8 male Wistar rats (140-160 g) were used to test each drug dose. An incision was made on the plantar surface of a hind paw and the changes in the withdrawal threshold to mechanical stimulation were evaluated with Von Frey filaments at 1, 2, 6 and 24 h after the surgery. Tenoxicam was given 12 or 6 h...

Screening of Ketoprofen-Poloxamer and Ketoprofen-Eudragit solid dispersions for improved physicochemical characteristics and dissolution profile BJPS
Savardekar,Ravi Yashwant; Sherikar,Amol Shantinath.
The aim of the present study was to enhance the dissolution rate of an NSAID drug Ketoprofen by formulating it into solid dispersions with water soluble carrier Poloxamer 188 and Eudragit S 100. The solid dispersions of Ketoprofen with Poloxamer 188 were prepared at 1:1, 1:1.5 and 1:2 (Ketoprofen: Poloxamer 188) ratio by Solvent evaporation methods. The same concentration ratio was used for the preparation of solid dispersion with Eudragit S 100 by melting/fusion technique. Further, solid dispersions were investigated by solubility, ATR-FTIR, XRD, DSC, surface morphology, in-vitro dissolution and accelerated stability study. Results demonstrated that both Poloxamer 188 and Eudragit S 100 improve solubility of drugs by 8–10 folds. The result of ATR-FTIR...

Subcutaneous administration of ketoprofen delays Ehrlich solid tumor growth in mice Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Souza,C.M.; Auler,P.A.; Reis,D.C.; Lavalle,G.E.; Ferreira,E.; Cassali,G.D..
Ketoprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) has proven to exert anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative and anti-angiogenic activities in both neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions. We investigated the effects of this compound on tumor development in Swiss mice previously inoculated with Ehrlich tumor cells. To carry out this study the solid tumor was obtained from cells of the ascites fluid of Ehrlich tumor re-suspended in physiological saline to give 2.5x106cells in 0.05mL. After tumor inoculation, the animals were separated into two groups (n = 10). The animals treated with ketoprofen 0.1µg/100µL/animal were injected intraperitoneally at intervals of 24h for 10 consecutive days. Animals from the control group received saline. At the end...
